"silverscreenandroll" said : NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers tried to trade for DeMarcus Cousins

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly shut down talks on a possible trade for Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical. Harrison Faigen is co-host of the Locked on Lakers podcast (subscribe here), and you can follow him on Twitter at @hmfaigen. Langston Galloway will also reportedly be included and (likely) waived, per Wojnarowski. Update 8:44 PM: Sacramento has reportedly traded Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Wojnarowski for a package of "Buddy Hield and a 2017 first-round pick" as well as Philadelphia's 2017 second-round pick and former King Tyreke Evans. Wojnarowski reports that talks broke down when Sacramento tried to get the Lakers to include 2017 second-overall pick Brandon Ingram as part of a package for the All-Star center, who played just two minutes in the All-Star game on Sunday night as trade talks intensified.

The Lakers have actually made some moves, in the front office and out.

Lakers Rumors: Examining Trade Whispers Surrounding Los Angeles
But Los Angeles general manager Mitch Kupchak said last week that his office is being aggressive in trying to shake up the roster, per Tania Ganguli and Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times:We are active, yes. Let's take a look at the buzz surrounding Los Angeles and what it means for the team moving forward. Williams' friendly contract also increases Los Angeles' leverage in trade talks. Giving all of that away just to have Cousins potentially walk away in free agency at the end of the year would set Los Angeles back a few years. This matches well with what Los Angeles is trying to do, as the Lakers could turn Williams into another young big man to complement its young core of guards and smaller forwards.
