"The Irish Times " said : Marine Le Pen and France’s choice

Sir, – Le Pen could prove mightier than the accord which has held Europe together for decades. Only since "Penelopygate" has Ms Le Pen been shown to exceed 40 per cent in a run-off with Mr Fillon. She has put restoring the French people's monetary, legislative, territorial, and economic sovereignty at the head of her list of campaign promises (Lara Marlowe, "Marine Le Pen – Yes she can", Weekend Review, February 11th). Since the beginning of 2016, Marine Le Pen has never exceeded 31 per cent in French opinion polls, mostly her support has lain in the 24-28 range. If Mr Fillon cannot recover, Mr Macron will be her opponent.

Mme Le Pen caused controversy this week when she refused to go into a meeting with Lebanon's grand mufti after his aides asked her to wear a headscarf. Janice Atkinson, an independent MEP and former Ukip candidate in Folkestone and Hythe, told us last month Kent would be a safer place if Mme Le Pen swept to victory this spring. Mr Farage, who until recently lived in Westerham, has long suggested the government has underestimated the far-right leader, after warning of a "revolution" across Europe last week.

France's Marine Le Pen Is Coming To Lebanon A Lebanese government source has confirmed that the French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen will be visiting Lebanon next week to talk with leaders. Le Pen has vowed to put "France first" and to fight terrorism. The French presidential election is going to be as interesting to watch as the Trump-Clinton election in the US – if not more. It is customary for the French presidential candidates to visit Lebanon.
